Mr. L. Hood has partnered with a new startup company LISNR to create media and a mobile app using Compton Early College high school students. Mr. L. Hood is dedicated in giving students a foundation in leadership, software engineering and programming skills. The chapter is CTSO#309 which stands for Career Technical Student Organization.
Every class at the Compton Early High school is rigorous—not just science and math, but also reading, social studies, and even art—will feature elements of engineering and computer science, using a curriculum supported by educators supported by El Camino College. And every student has access to a laptop provided by the school district. Students are outfitted with cutting-edge technology including access to 3D printers, custom-programmed computers, smart boards, and a makerspace where students can design and build. After four years in high school students earn an associate degree. All together, the partnership represents a multimillion-dollar commitment—with the school district poised with nearly $750 million—intended to spark higher achievement at Compton from the city approving the recent bond measure S. My goal is to prepare students for 21st century careers, and increase the level of achievement and opportunities on the school campus. For more on LISNR please visit http://www.lisnr.com
